People know i ordinarily am the type to engage in detailed meta and debate but even I recognize when an argument is moot.

As Hot-Rod-Red said, this has nothing to do with contradicting or espousing canon. This has to do with your conduct toward other human beings, and your goodwill within a fandom. There is a balance between disagreement and civility. There is never a need for condescendence. You can always prove a point of dissent politely. Fact, not opinion! LMAO.

lol I get you, gurl. There are times when I am absolutely baffled by the degree of self-importance some people exhibit in Tumblr!fandom when trying to police the fannish expression of others. They might as well just cover their ears and whine “LALALA ONLY MY WAY IS THE RIGHT WAY AND IF YOU DON’T APPROACH FANDOM THE WAY I DO, YOU’RE UNINTELLIGENT”, because that’s how absurd they sound.

In general, there’s many popular trends, headcanons, and tropes that annoy me, but I would never try to shame the people that like them or insult their intelligence just because I happen to have different interpretations or interests. That would just be rude and would serve absolutely no purpose but produce unnecessary hostility and antagonism in the fandom.

I have no problem with people stating that they dislike something or engaging in discussion/debate, but as soon as they start trying to put others down for having different preferences or insulting fans/”fangirl bashing”, I’m just like

I find that sort of thing much more annoying than popular memes because it actually creates a toxic, “witch hunt” type of fandom environment where people feel justified in verbally abusing others just because they interpret a character differently or like certain headcanons.

I’ll just warn you ahead, I’m going to be terrible with updating either this blog or my Japan blog for the next three months. I’ll be quite busy, and my laptop is old and nackered as opposed to the family PC I normally use for tumblr. I hope to update my other blog from time to time, but I can’t promise anything, really - I’m lazy and my laptop is rusty, so yeah. I usually just check my email and make a blogpost on my Dutch blog, which is the one that my family and friends back home read (and admittedly I read some fanfiction).

I just wanted to let you guys know I’m safe and sound, the weather is a hundred times better here than back home (it’s actually springy instead of middle-of-wintery, although there is a breeze sometimes). Still getting used to the whole shebang though, but I’ll try and keep you posted!
